Aims
The main aim of the Group is to improve the situation in fishing dependent areas around the North Sea seen in relation to people living there as well as to the fishing stocks and to the environment.
The aim of the Politicians meeting is to discuss and prepare the priorities of the Group for the coming year and to provide the opportunity for the Politicians to discuss and highlight specific issues relevant to their own areas, which may need the support of the Group. Recently a number of thematic sub-groups were established to meet more frequently with the purpose to develop and prepare concrete projects. |

The General Assembly of the North Sea Commission, held in Stavanger (Norway) on 18 June 2010, expressed their real concerns in respect of the oil disaster in the Gulf of Mexico. The General Assembly urges all governments to urgently investigate the risks which exist in the North Sea.
The North Sea is of fundamental importance to the lives of its inhabitants and the economies of all the countries around the North Sea.
