 Aims

To work for the improvement of transportation and communication in the North Sea area (see also the Terms of Reference).

Activities

The Communications Group holds two to three meetings every year. In addition to this a task-force has been established to meet more frequently especially in order to formulate projects.

Area Profile

It is belived that a profile showing the situation of communications and transportation in each NSC region may help to identify the common issues of interest and common problems to work with.

Projects

The intention is to launch a number of projects discussed in relation to the Interreg IIC Programme once a date for call for proposal has been set.

Another idea is to develop and promote short sea shipping. This could be done by establishing Sea Freight Transport 'Forums' where the group, togehter with people of relevance to the issue, can come together to enable an exchange of informetion in order to enhance the understanding of the opportunities available for maritime transport.
