North Sea Commission - Education & Research Group,
Terms of Reference
Membership of the group:
Membership of the Education and Research Technical Group (hereafter referred
to as 'the Group') is open to all members of the North Sea Commission with
an interest in Education and Research.
The Group may develop sub-groups and project
groups to work on matters which will be of benefit to the North Sea Area.
There will be an identified leader for each group.
Group leaders represent their institution or
organisation when undertaking any of the project work.
Meetings of the group:
At least two meetings per year will be held face-to-face. The co-ordinator
and chairman will seek to use the possibilities offered by ICT to organise
additional meetings.
Face-to-face meetings will be held in the
member counties by rotation.
The host organisation for these meetings may
arrange presentations by and visits to education and/or research
establishments if directly relevant to the work of the group. These visits
may reflect the interests of the host organisation.
Aims: ·
- to promote the North Sea area as a
coherent region for cross-border and transnational co-operation;
- to promote the spirit of this co-operation
through the activities of the Group;
- to create a platform to encourage and
support actions for cross-border and transnational co-operation in
education and research;
- to exchange experience and best practice
in the fields of education and research;
- to ensure that the education and research
interests of North Sea Commission members are understood and supported
by the group when considering projects for development;
- to be aware of education- and
research-related activities of the work of the other technical groups
and to suggest links with this Group where appropriate.
- each Group member to support third parties
in their region through networking within the Group.
Actions:
- to facilitate and co-ordinate co-operation
between the partners represented in the Group in the fields of education
and research;
- to lobby for external funding for the
promotion of cross-border and transnational co-operation in the fields
of education & research;
- to develop and offer a network for
co-operation to the partners themselves and to third parties involved in
these areas;
- make use of ICT as an appropriate means of
facilitating communication, networking and exchange of information
between group members;
- to advise and support interested bodies
working in these areas;
- to develop pilot projects between the
partners represented in the group to the benefit of all parties involved
from the partner regions.
