Joint Annual Conference & General Assemblies 2008 
" Towards a Sustainable Future"; 11-13 June 2008 – Herning, Denmark

Dear Colleague,
You are cordially invited to attend the Joint Annual Conference and General Assemblies arranged by the
Interreg IVB North Sea Region Programme, the North Sea Commission and the Baltic Sea Commission,
which will take place 11-13 of June 2008 in Herning, Denmark.

“Towards a Sustainable Future” is the theme of the conference and the event will focus on different aspects
of the Lisbon and Gothenburg Agendas in relation to regional development in the EU and beyond. The event
will be arranged in a climate neutral fashion, i.e. enabling participants to offset travel emissions, etc.
The event marks the first Annual Conference after formal approval of the IVB Programme, which builds on
the success of the IIIB Programme and aims to expand the scope of transnational cooperation and facilitate
relevant and innovative projects for the North Sea Region.

The event will provide stakeholders at all levels in regional development with a chance to explore challenges
and possibilities for the future. It will also give an insight into the issues that project developers and decision
makers in the participating countries are challenged with in relation to the Programme and EU-cooperation.
