The CPMR project “Europe of the Sea” (see www.europeofthesea.org) has taken the initiative to a seminar with stakeholders, in Bergen, Norway.  The CPMR North Sea Commission is the organizer, in close co-operation with the Institute of Marine Research, Norway, and other partners.
The “Europe of the Sea” – project is established to follow the EU process of making a Green Paper on a European Maritime Policy.

Dates:   16 – 17 January 2006.
            Monday 16 January starting at 10 am, ending Tuesday 17 January at 2 pm.

“EUROPE OF THE SEA – BERGEN SEMINAR”

Organizers:  The CPMR North Sea Commission

In co-operation with:
- The CPMR Baltic Sea Commission
- The Ministry of Local Government and Regional Policy, Norway
- The Institute of Marine Research, Norway
- Rogaland County Council, Norway

The aim of the conference is to stimulate the dialogue on European Maritime Policy issues.

Target groups are authorities, organizations (including NGO’s), industries and other stakeholders interested in the shaping of a future European Maritime Policy. The CPMR project has its focus on the role of the regions.

The Bergen seminar will deal with the North Sea, the Baltic Sea, the Norwegian Sea and the Barents Sea Areas. The main emphasis will be on research, development and innovation issues.

The CPMR project “Europe of the Sea” will give valuable material for the European Commission in their work for a European Maritime Policy, the Green Paper in 2006 as a first step.

The project will deliver its final report shortly after the seminar.  An interim project report will be part of the written material for the seminar.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION

There is no seminar fee - charges cover accommodation, meals, rent of seminar rooms etc, to be paid by participants to the hotel on departure. (invoicing must be agreed upon in advance).
Bergen has direct flight connections to several European airports. Participants from abroad are expected to arrive on Sunday 15 January – (informal get – together in the evening).
Participants are asked to register under the following categories:

A ) Full Package - arrival Sunday 15 January: 2 nights in single room, full board, informal get - together Sunday, 2 days meetings and meals, inclusive Seminar Dinner NOK 2350

B) Full Package - arrival Monday 16 January: 1 night in single room, full board, 2 days meetings and meals, inclusive Seminar Dinner NOK 1600

C) Non - residents:Informal get - togehter Sunday, 2 days meetings and meals, inclusive Conference Dinner NOK 1000

D) Other Alternatives: please specify arrival, attendance, hotel occupancy and departure, price will be given on request.
